I thought we weren't supposed to judge people on how well they earn, or how hard their labor.

Or does that only apply to Wall Street?

We shouldn't be beefing about this in any case. I just wanted to point out that Hondo's drive-by was materially incorrect.

I'd like to judge based on results.

The problem is -- as has been discussed on a million education threads -- that it's very hard to evaluate teacher performance.

What's a good performance? And, how do you compare schools in districts with fewer resources to schools with greater resources?

But, teachers unions continue to resist any use of tests in evaluations, and unions continue to protect their weakest performers, at the expense of the children their charged with education.

This could have been a very entertaining thread about fake rappers.

The one dude appeared at Lollapalooza, and has a record contract, and sub-label, with Interscope.

I hadn't heard of him before all of this, but I wouldn't call him "fake".

The guy who got shot was fake, though.

This happens a lot in the Bay Area -- seems like every gangster killed in Oakland is an aspiring rapper.

I also like Chief Keef saying his Twitter account was "hacked."

Yeah, it's hard to tell if he had a real chance at making it.

Sounds like tried to instigate a "rap feud" to draw attention to his music, and make a name for himself. Instead, it looks like it got him killed.

    So you think you're tough
    Well, we hate rappin'
But don't bust a cap in
    'Cause here's what's happenin'
    We're breaking out
    Some old-fashioned tappin'!

My window is about 30 floors above the Ogden School, where an army of teachers began picketing at 7 am, followed by a half dozen choppers swooping in between the high-rises to get video. I thought we were at war.

I would have preferred the rappers.

By 10 am they were gone. I thought maybe the strike was over, but perhaps they all went to Tempo for brunch. Not much of a picket line.

    Oops!

The Christian Brothers would be ashamed of me.

    Christian Brothers? Were they unionized?
