    Really?

A boxer, a football player, a porn star and an adult with a filthy stuffed animal that has come to life?

I don't understand the hate for him, also.

  2. I don't know what I think about Walberg. My initial reaction is that he's not a good actor, but at the same time, I like most of the movies he's been in -- Contraband, The Fighter, Shooter, Invincible, Four Brothers -- so he can't be that bad.

You could say the same thing about 70 percent of the actors in Hollywood.

I've seen quite a few of Wahlberg's films. I liked all of them, hell Boogie Nights is one of my favorite films.

Ebert gives it a thumbs up: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20120627/REVIEWS/120629973

I haven't been to a movie in a theatre since There's Something About Mary, but I will be all over this. Mrs. Huggy, of course, thinks this looks stupid. She is a philistine. That trailer was awesome.

I am also anxiously awaiting the rumoured ALF movie.

I think Wahlberg falls victim to the thing that any number of actors go through. If they play dim-witted characters accurately, they're looked upon as being dim-witted themselves.

And let's face it, Wahlberg doesn't tend to play PhDs.

My only issue with Mark Wahlberg is that, in most of his roles, I'd rather have Matt Damon.

Now, in The Departed, both were cast perfectly.

In the case of 'The Departed,' I think Damon could've done Wahlberg's character but the converse would not hold up.
I don't think Damon could've done the characters in 'The Fighter' or 'Boogie Nights.'

Maybe not "Boogie Nights." But the only reason Damon couldn't do Micky Ward is because of his physical appearance, and many actors have gained 50 pounds for a boxing role. Wahlberg was closer to looking like a boxer prior to taking the role, though.

If I had to guess a white trash name, it would be that or Dakota, but using different spelling variations.

At least they didn't cast Ben Affeck.
