Technology in the newsroom

When I cleaned out an old desk to take over as my own five years ago, I found one of the TRS things. I had no clue what it was or if it worked. Once an older reporter told me, we put it on display like you would in a museum.

 

Also, Gates and Microsoft didn't write MS-DOS -- they licensed it from another company.

 

There was nothing like trying to file from a Tandy 100 with couplers from a pay phone at some Hardee's in Craptown USA.

The high school kids would look at you like you were crazy. And it always took at least three tries to get a connection.

You young kids who don't know anything other than wireless are very lucky.

 

There's a small weekly 20 minutes from my current shop that still uses cut and paste. You can tell.
