It's like you haven't even been following the Mets modus operandi for the past couple of years. Admittedly, I haven't either, but still. Their reputation the past couple years has been that they're cheapos following the Madoff thing. They've shelled out to re-sign some guys, so that's probably a bit exaggerated, but plenty of weird fucking stories have come out from that team lately.

 

There's always a caution not to pay too much attention to minor league numbers -- especially power, which your typical low A youngster can develop over time -- but yeah given his age I can't see much baseball reason to promote a guy slugging around .300.
