The harder we push, the faster we'll all get done.

I always get some kind of refund, so I don't sweat the April 15 postmark because I figure the longer it takes me to file, the longer they get to keep my money....piddly amount as it is.

The first extension is granted automatically if you file the very simple form requesting it (no reason needed) and pay the taxes that will be due when you do file.

I know I'm not going to be able to pay my $261 state tax bill for at least a month, but I've filed, so the penalties will not be anywhere near as bad as if I didn't filed.

I was hoping I didn't need to use the blue font on my last comment. :D

Filed mine through snail mail over lunch today. Had one person in front of me, and only two people working registers.

I would if I were the post office. You pay someone 7 bucks an hour to check all the postmarks for the returns that come in April 16 and beyond. For those postmarked past the 15th, they get thrown in a bin and, bingo, there's an additional penalty we can charge!

Local news in Philly said that fewer post offices were staying open until midnight due to the increased number of people who are e-filing. It reduces the number of returns being mailed.
