Walked in slushy rain on shitty roads and sidewalks even though the town spends north of $200K on salt. Lazy fucks. But I got it in and, spoiler alert, the day will be a little bit better.

Haven't been on this thread in a bit, but we're making good progress on the bike miles. My goal for the year was 1,000, and I'm up to 473 by June 9, so I may have to revisit that and consider revising it upward. We're in ride at 6 a.m. so you can avoid the heat season here, which is nice because the roads are kind of empty at that time of day.

Also, down 25 pounds from the start of January until now. Happy that it's slow and steady rather than some sort of huge drop all at once. More sustainable.

Now up to 736 miles for the year, with all of the great fall riding weather to come. Legs are a bit trashed after a 22 miler today. But that's 363 miles between June 9 and today, which considering this is our busy season and I'm on the road a lot, I'll take.

Here's my short message and I'll share more later when I can: Don't blow off your regular checkups even if you feel stupendous. Even if you've lost a shitton of weight and feel like you're in better shape than you were 30 years ago. Because some trouble could be brewing behind the scenes.

Been quite a summer, learning a lot about myself. And yes, I'll be just fine but I have to get some work done.

Get your checkups. Regularly. Do not fuck around.

Great advice Moddy. And it's been easy to blow off appointments in the pandemic. To top it off, I have had multiple postponed appointments and finally had to put my foot down.

Hit 1,000 today, with at least one glorious riding month to spare. Excited to set a goal and reach it.

Looking at next week's forecast, probably got my last ride of 2021 in today, a 12-miler in 65-degree temps. Final tally: 1,223 miles, nearly double my total from last year and more than 200 miles more than the goal going into the year. Will shoot for 1,500 next year, with longer weekend rides and perhaps an MS 150 in early June. Haven't done one of those since I was a teenager, and there's one in the area next year.

Definitely let my diet slip during much of 2021, but finished the year with 10k steps on 361 days and more than 20k steps on 157 days.

Had 1,135 miles in 2021 including 20 events from 5K to 25K and two PRs on trail run halves, along with a 10K/16-mile duathlon. The bike ride was cool until I tried dismount and my hips said "Whoa, screw you." Started rehab after that on a nagging left leg injury that was affecting my right leg and gait.

Goal for 2022 is my first 50K, along with a three-day trail event in April, and losing more weight. Y'all keep up the good work, and be sure to go see your doctor, audiologist and eye care specialist. Take care of yourself.

I’m just seeing this now, for some reason. A belated thanks, Songbird! And I’m quoting a 2-1/2-year-old post to say I’m running another marathon in November.

Simply finishing is no longer good enough. I’m looking to break four hours, which means I’ll have to shave 45 minutes off my last time. It’s actually only about 30 minutes when you take away the time I spent waiting in ridiculously long bathroom lines.
