So this whole "swim the atlantic" thing is a farce, huh?

This story is funny. She didn't swim the Atlantic Ocean, but I'll be damned if I could swim 250 miles.

  5. Damn. I have no faith any more.

Using the AP's original metric, you only have to swim about 23 miles and then you can claim 250.

Jesus, why bother? Her crew probably mocked her as "J-Fraud" when she was in the water and out of ear shot.

  8. Of course, "resting on the westward-sailing catamaran" sounds nice.

  10. From the stories and accounts of this that I read this is NOT the woman's fault. The couple of stories I read; neither she nor her team claimed she swam the entire distance across the Atlantic.
There was nicely written story in the Rocky Mountain News where things were cleared up.

I think she is being bashed because the reporter who wrote the story took some liberties with her tale.

Last graf from Yahoo's Fourth Place Medal BLOG!

"In an interview yesterday with the AP, Figge avoids discussing the validity of her swim and instead says she "never intended to swim the Atlantic." That may be so, but she didn't do much to prevent most American news outlets from reporting that she did."

Hey everyone! I just wrote the Great American Novel!

Well, 20 pages of it anyway. But it was a good effort.
