Did anyone else here know about the French guy who did it first?

First, "holy crap" isn't a phrase I expected to see from you Fenian, though this story certainly warrants it. Just seems somehow beneath you. My perception ...

Second, I love the picture of the world's leggiest woman with the world's smallest man. Conjures numerous images, few of them honorable.

As for the swimmer, she got there just in time, and her route was well chosen, given the hoards of sharks that approached the Florida coast a few days ago.

I don't quite understand how this works. Did the sailboat sail around in circles at night? The day she swam for 21 minutes, did it sail forward and double back? It's not as if you can drop anchor unless you have 20,000 feet of rope.

How do you not get eaten by a shark?

I imagine a GPS was involved in making sure she swam the entire way.

Good thing Robin brought the shark repellent.

Turns out, as I suspected, that the thing was kind of b.s.

Impressive, sure, but she did not swim the entire length of the Atlantic Ocean. Not even close.

I want to know how she financed all this. Is it possible that there's a profile of Jennifer Figge coming soon?
