Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites II

I'm amazed there hasn't been an active pre-show discussion. I guess that's what happens when you're busy catching up with "The Walking Dead" over a plate of spaghetti.

I don't see this cast of "Favorites" as so. They were for the most part, odd balls and people I can't recall at all.

But it starts tonight.

 

It's impressive that some of these network reality shows have been able to hang around as long as they have. Between the Bachelor, Amazing Race, Survivor etc... the networks have to love getting two seasons out of each every year at probably a fraction of the cost of putting on a real show.

 

Screw that. Southland is back on tonight.

 

I don't know from 'The Bachelor/Bachelorette,' but 'Survivor' has hung on because it's really a prime-time game show, not a reality show. There's a competitive element to it that is interesting. There are strategies and tactics to watch. Even when it's not one of its better seasons, I enjoy watching it.

 

Kind of bland opening, but challenges were really good.

It was cut from two hours to 90 minutes. If that was the best, I can't imagine what was taken out.

Right now, I'm pulling for the bearded, tatted guy to win.

 

I liked the opening episode, but I wanted Phillip to go out. I find him annoying.
And highlights make it look like Brandon's going right back into stupid/crazy mode. That's annoying, too.

 

Why the hell wasn't Cochran in the discussion to get the boot. He is already annoying the hell out of me. Feel bad for Franchesca. Deserved better.

 

Cochran's a disaster in this kind of game. That's why he's a fan.
I give him credit for what looked like real game performance in the reward and eliminations challenges.

Editing was much nicer to Francesca this time, and she had a good plan. But Phillip gets carried because he's not a real factor.

Good choice by Dawn and Cochran, because they're playing the game.

Bad choice for me as a viewer, because I don't find find Phillip funny. I'd be great with dealing with Phillip in real inert action, but watching him drives me crazy. And not in a good way. He makes me want to stop watching.

 

It's all a work anyway.

 

I still maintain that one of the future seasons needs to feature players who were all the first to be booted during their seasons.

That way, everyone's a returning player, but none of the viewers really know much about them.

 

Phillip is annoying. I could also see him hanging around awhile. He's not a threat. I know the previous season he was on, he hitched his wagon to Boston Rob and Rob brought him to the jury, knowing that nobody would ever vote for him.

 

It's interesting to see how Philip is trying to adopt Boston Rob's strategy and how utterly inept he is at it. It really gives you perspective on just how great of a player Rob really is.

Personally, I love The Specialist. He's batshit crazy, but that's what's fun about him.
