    Say you're caught in a pit, and have to choose between two doors with Roman numerals on them to escape. One leads to freedom, one to a man-eating tiger. The door to freedom is number VI. THAT's when you'll thank your lucky stars that you learned them.

    In other news: My teachers told me in grammar school that the US would gradually phase in the metric system and I'm still waiting for that to happen 40 years later.

    Is there a metric equivalent to 40 years?

    My girlfriend was raised on the metric system. She's constantly using it, such as telling me things in centimeters or grams. My response is always, "In English, please?"
