With Dr. Z fighting for recovery with his strokes and an industry shrinking daily, what is the list now for journalists who have been to every Super Bowl?

Jerry Green of the Detroit News and who else?

I don't think Dr. Z had been to every one. I think he might have missed the first couple.

There were about five left (true journalists) who had been at every one and I know at least two have retired. The guy from the Star-Ledger and the guy from San Diego, who I think ended his streak a year or two ago.

  3. Edwin Pope in Miami I believe. I think Jerry Izenberg WAS another?

Don't think Z has been to all the Super Bowls.

I remember SI had a special SB issue some years back and Dr. Z did a story on how he missed the first one.

I think it's down to the Pontiff, Jerry Izenberg and Jerry Green.

Izenberg was one of them. I'm assuming the streak ended after he retired, but for all I know he freelanced the game for someone.

I could have sworn he missed one recently, but I might very well be wrong.

  9. Found it!
In 2005 there were only five left.
    Jerry Green, Detroit News (retired)
    Jerry Izenberg
    Dave Klein, former Star-Ledger guy
    Bob Oates, LA Times
    And Ed Pope, Miami Herald.

In a precede to a Monday column in the S-L, Izenberg was "one of only three" who have covered every Super Bowl.
And, Mizzou, he still writes for the Ledger...as columnist emeritus, he does about 20-25 columns a year of his choosing, major events like the Super Bowl, Triple Crown races etc.
He also recently did the last dela Hoya fight in Vegas, since Jerry now lives in Henderson, Nev.

Dave Klein missed one a few years ago, I believe, either '06 or '07.

  11. Probably Pope and Oates are the other two.

I would imagine (purely a guess) Klein would not have missed '07 since he works for a Giants internet site.

Thought one was Pope; Izenberg was the one I couldn't remember.
