Summer vacations

Haven't seen one of these up here yet, but summer is nearly upon us and well I know some, if not most of you, will be using your hard-earned vacation time this summer to do various things. I think the rest of the community would like to hear about these plans (even if you've already taken a week or so).

I just got back from a 2-week stint in the great state of Florida. Came back to the job with a fully recharged battery that was quickly drained in one weekend of work ... Doesn't matter, the good times I had in Florida were well worth any hurt I'm having to endure until the next time I get back there. Here's what the vacation consisted of:

    1) Best friend's wedding: Said friend was married the same weekend the first tropical storm of the season hit, quite an adventure driving back and forth in that mess too. Tampa, though, was just as I remembered it. Fun as hell. The only problems were the places that the tuxedos were ordered from screwed up three things on the order. They forgot to order something (forgot what it was), they took forever in fixing the groom's father and the groom's pants (too long) and they totally cancelled one of the groomsmen's tux orders. Needless to say, everything got in on time and the wedding went pretty smoothly. Although one of the bridesmaids did almost knock over an entire candleabra and almost caught her hair on fire.

    2) Rest of the time was spent relaxing and spending time with my father. I can't remember the last time we actually sat down and watched an entire Cubs game together. God I miss those days and it was damn good to get to spend a lot of time with him.

    3) Celebrated my birthday while I was down there as well and got to see a lot of old friends that night as well. Great time had by all. Also got to see someone I know where I'm currently living at who moved down to where I was taking my vacation at. He's a bar manager at a steakhouse and he hooked me up all night with free drinks. Life was good that night.

    4) The drive back was uneventful for the most part. Saw clear weather til I got to 95 and when I just turned on to it from I-4 it turned nasty. Could barely see the car in front of me for the rain. And I hate people that insist on driving 75 in that kind of pouring rain. I fishtailed a little and I was only going 45.

One major highlight, if you will, of the time in Florida was one afternoon, we heard this repeated pinging sound outside my dad's house. My brother looks out the door and sees one of our neighbors taking a baseball bat to his wife's SUV. He smashed every window, every tailight, headlight and side mirror on that car. Apparently he had caught his wife cheating and instead of taking it out on her, he demolished her vehicle so she couldn't go anywhere. He peeled off in his truck before the cops came, but he did spend a weekend in jail for that. You never know what you're going to see on vacation.

It was good while it lasted.

Glad you had a good time, Tommy. And as for a bonus, you got to see some domestic violence.

Yeah, just glad he didn't take the bat to her is all.

Unless her name was the only one on the title, I'd think he'd have ownership rights to do whatever he wanted to that SUV.

I'd imagine there are exceptions built in for the intimidation factor.

In what trailer park were you staying?

I'm on vacation this week and heading up to Niagara Falls with the girlfriend. I haven't been there in five years, and I know they built another casino since the last time I was there. Can anybody tell me anything about the new casino and how it compares with the older one? And how close are they?

I agree. Maybe he was cited for littering.

The first half of my summer vacation ends in about two hours.

    Tommy,

What happens in Del Boca Vista is supposed to stay in Del Boca Vista.
