A day in Baltimore's not bad either ... plenty of good seats at Camden Yards, and you could take a tour of where The Wire was shot. Not to mention, you could debacle a pound or two of crab legs (could do that in Annapolis as well).

We MAY hit up Baltimore when the Nats are in town. But there's a stronger possibility of visiting Annapolis.

Scratch Applebees and throw a Five Guys in there, and we'll be in bidness. :)

My grandparents took me to Great Falls park when I was little. I haven't been there in years, but I do remember thinking it was neat for something that looked like it was in the mountains so close to the city. I know you're not really looking for history but Fort Washington in Maryland is a neat place for kids.

Great Falls is on our list for sure. Maybe I'll throw some rocks across the river at Snyder's place.

If you're heading Annapolis way, you could also head down to the western shore of the Chesapeake for all the boat tours and such.

You aren't too far from Quantico, are you? The Marine Corps museum, even accounting for the high propaganda factor, is pretty cool.

You also could take the last ferry on the Potomac, White's Ferry, from Loudon to Montgomery -- http://canal.mcmullans.org/whites_ferry.htm It's the only Potomac crossing between the Beltway and Point of Rocks, Md., which explains in part why the Beltway is so frickin' crowded.

The only reason I could see you taking that road is because it's on the way to the Jimmy Cone in Damascus, Md.

    What's the Jimmy Cone?

A damn spectacular little ice cream joint. Especially if you like your ice cream thick with jimmies, or as most of the world calls them, sprinkles.

And to correct myself, the name of the place is Jimmie Cone, not Jimmy Cone.

Jimmies are a subset of sprinkles.
All jimmies are sprinkles, but not all sprinkles are jimmies.
I was just trying to explain this to someone last week.
