Stupid fact I actually searched out the answer for

    There are 24 Volkswagen Jetta yellow medallion taxi cabs out of 13,000 cabs in New York City.

    How do I know? I saw one about a half a year ago, ran home and told my girlfriend and she told me I was nuts. The only cabs we ever see are Nissans and Fords.

    Another couple of months went by, and one day we were walking and I saw one, and started pointing and shouting and she saw it.

    It got me wondering how many Volkswagen cabs there are. So I e-mailed the Taxi & Limousine Commission.

    Took a month, but got an e-mail today. There are 24 Volkswagen Jetta cabs in New York City.

    It's been a while, but there was one Mercedes.

    There was an article in the paper about it, and then I kept seeing it.
