    I do wonder if this stuff goes in cycles. When I graduated in the 1980s, I kept being told how tight the market was and that I'd be lucky to land a job at a weekly or tiny daily. Well, within two months of walking the stage I was working at a decent 20,0000-something daily.

    Then for a stretch in the 1990s, it seemed there were more jobs than people to fill them. I heard stories of new grads getting full-time offers at major metros and with pro teams, etc. Now it seems the pendulum has swung again with a lot of layoffs, cutbacks, etc. I really wonder what the discussion will be 5-10 years from now.
