You're mostly accused of being a racist and a homophobe.

First of all: I want to see where someone has gotten "30 days for jaywalking."

Second of all: The fact that "someone died as a result of this," first of all, is heavily up for debate. Second of all, it was not a factor in the prosecution of the defendant. His suicide was not allowed to be brought up, just the underlying behavior, in a vacuum.

    First of all, that's confusing.
Second of all, see first of all.

If you could come anywhere close to proving that, this would be an even more interesting case. But the evidence there is quite scant.

Is there a debate as to whether the victim's suicide could be traced to the actions of the defendant? Or is that pretty well established?

It is not pretty well established whatsoever.

And, again, it was not part of the prosecution's case.

It's fair to say that the case would not have been brought if not for the tragic events thereafter. However, the crime that he was charged with had nothing to do with the suicide and I believe that no evidence regarding the suicide was admissible. If the family sues him civilly, then I think the door is wide open.

Right, exactly. Case doesn't get brought if kid doesn't kill himself, but it still couldn't factor into the sentencing.

Not sure about the civil stuff, so I'll defer to you there.

Maybe Caleb has sentenced himself to 30 days house arrest.
