I wonder what Dr. Hondo will have to say if there's a lot more than inflammation in Strasburg's shoulder.

As everyone always does in these debates, hondo brought up Nolan Ryan (and Seaver, Carlton, etc.). How come nobody ever mentions Sandy Koufax and wonders whether he might have had three or four more good years if he hadn't averaged 310 innings between 1963 and '66?

I guess it was more than not getting "loose."

They absolutely made the right move. If you have the choice, you do not even risk blowing out the kid's arm in a meaningless late July game.

He would check with Frank Mazzone first.

Study this very carefully, Hondo. There will be a quizz

The toe bone connected to the heel bone,
The heel bone connected to the foot bone,
The foot bone connected to the leg bone,
The leg bone connected to the knee bone,
The knee bone connected to the thigh bone,
The thigh bone connected to the back bone,
The back bone connected to the neck bone,
The neck bone connected to the head bone,

Too funny. If Strasburg ends up going under the knife, Dr. Hondo will still be declaring he just needs to put a little mud on it.

The list of things hondo is an "expert" on is truly endless.

Crusty old grouchy senator Jim Bunning thinks Strasburg is a pussy. I think Bunning is mad that Bob Feller is considered the grouchiest hall of famer.

GREAT! Now they've BABIED his INFLAMMATION. How will he ever learn TOUGHNESS and STICKTOITTIVENESS?

Nobody ruined as many as arms Billy Martin did with the A's in 1980. The A's staff had 94 complete games that year, including 22 consecutive (seriously) complete games by Rick Langford. Arms began practically falling off some very promising pitchers the next few years after that.

One arm Martin ruined was that of Steve McCatty -- Strasburg's pitching coach.
