The only thing that might keep me from attacking him is making sure my kid is OK and if someone grabbed him first. I doubt he'd have done it with a father/daughter combo.

Unlike the internet tough guys around here, I never once made that claim. I simply said I used to live in a very bad neighborhood with several gang sets right around the corner and mostly because I was too poor to afford an apartment elsewhere as I was just out of college.

That all of the sudden became, I'm saying I'm a gangsta.......

True. That few seconds making sure your kid is OK might keep you from attacking the guy.

Or you could just, you know, call the cops.

You think this guy would've done that if it had been the dad with the kid instead of the mom?

Depends on who the dad was holding the kid. I mean, if the dad was OOP not only would this guy have done it, he would have taken the kid's lunch money as well......

I feel you. I'd go fukkin black if someone came at me sideways regarding any of my children. It's instinctive, and the time to process things goes out the fukkin window.

If that was my son he put his hands on, doctors would still be trying to pry a WalMart shelf from dudes skull.

You don't know me that well, zag. You screw with me, I might keep my head. You strike my child and I'm going shit-house rat crazy on someone.

Years ago I worked for a major Canadian retailer (long gone now), and one day I was working with our display manager, a different kind of chap (but one of the most interesting people I have ever known) who despised children (he was gay and had none of his own).

Anyway he gets paged one day for a phone call. As he's on the phone in one of the departments this kid starts wailing about five feet from him. His disgust is evident right away and when the kid doesn't shut up, he excuses himself and says in his posh English accent, "Will you shut that fucking kid up? Can't you see I'm on the fucking phone?"

Then you'd be going to jail and you wouldn't be there to defend your kid the next time someone smacked her/him in the face.

Again, this is all internet hot air from a bunch of psuedo-tough guys.....

My guess is, you'd be pissed off but you, being a sensible and reasonable adult who wants to be a good role model for your child, would show some restraint and self-control, take your child out of harm's way and call for store security then watch as the man is escorted away to jail.
