Story on fan who caught A-Rod's 500th - too much?

    The kid is from the Trenton,NJ area (McCorristin High School in Hamilton is one town over). Both Trenton newspapers ran stories about the guy who caught the ball. Neither quoted the MySpace profile. The Times (the broadsheet in town) talked to the kid's father to see if he knew what his son's plans were for the ball. The Trentonian (the broadsheet of "Roasted Nuts" fame) talked to the guy's brother. The Star Ledger also ran a story on the guy.

    Anybody that uses MySpace or Facebook as a source in a story is a lazy reporter.

    The news-side at my last paper used MySpace and Facebook as a research tool.
