Jobs might be a bit of an asshole, but I kind of find his willingness to be a dick a little refreshing.

Most employees, from the CEO to the front line employee, have to kiss the customer's ass, regardless of the situation.

I sometimes feel bad for the restaurant GMs I have to deal with. They have to put up with the craziest customers. And they have to be sympathetic no matter what, instead of suggesting that maybe the customer find a restaurant that can better suit their needs.

Jobs doesn't care and is willing to tell someone to fuck off.

I know that when I worked at Continental, one of the things that our employees loved about our CEO, Gordon Bethune, was that he would often side with our employees when a customer has a ridiculous complaint.

And so he chose, knowing his actions wouldn't affect his financial well being one way or the other, to not be gracious but to be a dick.

Tells you a lot about character

Lazy and entitled? She tried to work with the Apple PR department, which stoned her. She did what any self-respecting journalist would do -- tried to work around the flaks to get somebody to talk.

Anyway, there are a lot of professional journalists who wouldn't recognize that the story changed when Jobs started being a dick, so I'm willing to cut this student some slack.

TSP: Retract the first "a," too, and add an "and". Otherwise, it's "Girl's a lazy, entitled"

This is going to piss some people off. He let his temper get the best of him. How is that good business?

Would it have killed Apple Media Relations to have sent her a one-sentence response? That, to me, is lazy.

Now they pay a price for their laziness.

This gal is in the national spotlight.

    She wins.

Lazy because it appears the totality of her effort was sending emails and making phone calls to Apple's PR department. Got a plan B?

Entitled because of her whiny reaction and ...

Wait, so we have to crack on her because she used to be a hand model?

Apple's business model is to appear cool. A lot of people think a dismissive CEO is cool. This adds to the "we are different and edgy so it's okay to pay three times as much for a similar product just because we made it" mystique.

If we imagine the girl as a journalist trying to get a quote, she's sympathetic.

What if we imagine her as a sports parent trying to get elementary-school cross-country results into the paper? Does "leave us alone" seem more reasonable now after several e-mails?

Hey, at least he didn't rip her for pursuing a dead end career. :)
