    So I know he's famous for being such a smart scientist guy, but what's Hawking's most famous discovery or scientific breakthrough? How would his obit read?

    Basically, he has extended our understanding of how gravity works, which we assume is the key to unlocking a lot of mysteries about the universe.

    Right. His work has primarily focused on gravity within the universe. Particularly, black holes and their properties.
