Thanks to Moddy for permission to discuss tonight's address. Of course it's politics, but also a major news story...hopeful we can treat it as such.

Mainly I'm concerned that everyone has a date; can't wait to see Eric Cantor and Nancy Pelosi sitting together. Love the concept, but can't imagine the pressure of having to look happy/smiley all night.

    Will you be watching?

Will the seating arrangement lead to more or less standing ovations?

Will Republicans be "forced" into standing for the ovations?

Will the ovations look smaller if the Republicans don't join in as the Democrats are now spread out and their numbers have been reduced?

We did so well with Election Day that I'm happy to give this one a shot. Let's handle it as we did then please. But, not meaning to sound like a heavy, it dies at the first sign of trouble. Please don't be trouble. For 48 hours on Election Day and the day after, we acted like reasonably mature adults. Looking forward to another round of that.

i'll set it at 10 (after kickoff tonight...)

of course, i'll also be pleasantly surprised if lockage isn't required by the end of page 1.

Mine was a tongue-in-cheek response to Mizzou. Nothing else intended.

It'll be a truly sad day when the comedians don't show up.

Anyway, this speech is timing up well with Obama's recent poll surge. Hell, even Rasmussen has Obama above 50 percent approval.

Also, CNN has a plurality saying the country is on the right track for the first time in a while.

Any chance his "bump" is muted because he already got it?

If not, yeah, his numbers are going to look pretty good coming out of the speech.

    We're a wishy-washy bunch in this country.

I'm sure his ratings will soar. I have no idea what he's going to say but the man can speak. He's an A+ orator and I don't think even his biggest detractors can argue that.

Did I hear we're going to get two rebuttals ... one from the Republicans and one from the Tea Party?

Terrific orator. His numbers will surely go up, they always do after a SOTU.

I'm just wondering how much room he has on the upside. He got a bump after his "handling" of Tucson, and I'm wondering if that bump will cannibalize his SOTU bump.

In other words, the people who are usually swayed by a SOTU have already been swayed.
