    Previous SE, Celeste Williams, was promoted to ME/Sports and Features about 2 years ago when Garza became SE.

    My understanding is the S-T does layoffs strictly by seniority. I'm hearing Sports was to cut one from management and two writers. Garza was the last in on the management side, so he's the first out.

    As for the other two, I think they might be offering buyouts. If no one takes them, the last two in will be out. Which probably explains Richie Whitt's blog post on Dallas Observer that Jan Hubbard and Gary West "are on the chopping block."

    It's just sickening that any of them have to go through this.

    Sacramento got rid of its SE a few months back. And from what I've heard, it's been a cluster every since. Shocking, I know.
