    Does this publisher actually believe that these cuts will SUSTAIN the company? It's the same song and dance every single effin' time. :mad:

    I'm surprised he did not say "sustain the company and make it leaner, stronger and more able to provide a quality newspaper."

    That was the idiotic mantra for a while.

    Updating:
    -- All part-timers on copy desk are gone.
    -- Everybody brought in for CCI transition gone.
    -- At least one full-timer expected to go from news copy desk/copy editor. If no volunteers for buyout, it goes by seniority.
    -- Plus you got the paycuts and furloughs.

    If you read the other McClatchy threads/blogs, you'll notice that this is the same text used in all the layoff announcements.
