The Jays won't contend this year. But by getting rid of Wells, they actually have a chance to contend in the next couple years.

My heart is just a little warmer because pitchers and catchers have reported. Football season around here sucked, and I have zero interest in basketball, so the last 2 1/2 months or so have been pretty barren on the sports front.

Albert Pujols arrives, issues statement declaring contract talks are done and asking reporters to respect his privacy (like nobody's ever done that in worshipful St. Louis).

$100 to the first reporter to ignore that prick's request. Doubled if it's A_QB. :D

Why is this such a big story? There have been plenty of times superstars have shown up to camp in the final year of their contracts with no one writing this much. Granted, the guy is the best active player, but come on.

It's a story because he's the only clean player in Major League Baseball.

Ah, spring training, when even the fucktard Mets can dream.
Here are some things that have come out of the first two days of Mets camp:

Ollie Perez says he's ready to prove what he can do and regain his spot in the rotation.
    K-Rod says he's a changed man.
Jose Reyes says he's heathier than he's been in two years and cares only about helping the Mets win.
Bernie Madoff says the Wilpon(zi)s knew nothing about his scheme.
Jeffy says the Wilpon(zi)s have no intention of selling a majority interest in the team.

Now, here is the month-by-month reality:

Ollie Perez will blow up before April 1.
K-Rod will blow up before May 1.
Jose Reyes will blow out his hamstring before June 1.
Fred Wilpon(zi) will be indicted before July 1.
MLB will take over the Mets before August 1.
There will be a new owner before Sept. 1
The Mets will be last in the NL East on October 1.

    Any questions?

Spring training legal news: Miguel Cabrera arrested for a DUI.

He hits the bottle as hard as he hits the ball.
