This has got to be the first step to him leaving the team. Good for them to take this step to avoid distracting from the start of the season. It will be interesting how MLB reacts.

That contract proposal ain't gonna cut it for this generation's inner circle talent. Not even close. Add another $5 million per year, and that's in the ballpark.

BR has him at 34M for last, this and next season. Add 5K per season.

And there is no way BryceHarper can happily co-exist with Trout as a teammate who makes 15M more a season than he does. Harper’s contract will insure that during his prime years he”ll be about the 10th highest paid player, per annum. Which is on par with his production

You think he'll be a top-10 player, production-wise? He was 46th in WAR last season (15th offensively - big demerits for lousy defense).

Is there something about Baer besides that one incident? I'm not condoning it, but I find it hard to believe a billionaire is going to end up forking over an MLB franchise because of that.

Could be, but he's also part of an ownership group and he doesn't even have the largest stake. The board could still force him out or art least force him out of the CEO role.

All y'all are batshit fucking crazy. Dude had an unfortunate public spat with his wife which was mildly physical and and she fell down in her chair. LOL at overcompensating for the racist treatment of black athletes involved in domestic disputes, having sex with white co-eds, and smoking pot.

Trumpians are at least honest, they believe in the racial double standard and are no longer afraid of saying so. Liberals are like, "we don't care for distinctions, nuances or context, we must condemn everyone and everything, bad, bad, go away."

And the largest stakeholder? Charles B. Johnson, who has been a silent partner for the most part ... until it was discovered over the winter he made donations to some pro-Trump PACs.

Of the ownership group, Baer is easily the most public and handles day-to-day affairs.

I think offensively he can be near a top 10 player. If philly is indeed a bandbox for lefties, Harper should display some serious power numbers.
I don’t trust Harper to be motivated to be consistent. He will provide end of year stats that look good but they will be based on huge bursts of production and extended periods of lack luster performance

Edit: Please keep the political idiocy on the politics thread.
