The Daily Post, a daily newspaper in metro Atlanta, seeks to fill a full-time sports opening that features split duty between page design and sports writing. Page designer will be responsible for laying out the sports section in QuarkExpress, so profiency in Quark is a must. Writing duties will include writing feature stories, covering events, etc.

Gwinnett County is a rapidly growing county with roughly 725,000 residents in the Atlanta suburbs. The GDP office is roughly 25 minutes from downtown Atlanta and 40 minutes from Athens. High school sports represent a big part of our coverage, but Gwinnett also has an ECHL hockey team, the PGA Tour's BellSouth Classic and other Atlanta-based events and teams. Our location between Athens and Atlanta also requires a big UGA and Georgia Tech presence, as well as coverage of the Atlanta pro teams.

Interested applicants should submit a resume with writing and/or page design clips to will.hammock@gwinnettdailypost.com or mail to Gwinnett Daily Post, c/o Will Hammock, sports editor, 725 Old Norcross Road, Lawrenceville, GA, 30045. No phone calls please.

Someone interviewed last week and someone is expected to interview this week. From what I understand they're having a hard time finding the right person to fill the spot. Anyone interested should send their stuff ASAP, if they want to get an opportunity to interview.
