But Wilt Chamberlain still holds the all-time scoring record. Had a lot of points, too.

I mean, why works this hard to miss the point so badly?

If you set the mark there, you get four of the greatest players ever... and Thaddeus Young. That's kind of remarkable. Who gives a shit if it's 1.4 or 1.5? Why pretend the number itself is the point of this?

Is it an anomoly of statistics when 20% of those that accomplished this are dissimilar to the others.?

    What are career points?

There is nothing remarkable about it. They have cherry picked specific stats and levels to put him into a group of the best players ever. He is unquestionably not one of the best players ever. It is an attempt to inflate the stature of a player, to a ridiculous degree. It is useless.

I’d guess, if they expanded any of those levels just slightly, it wouldn’t be just Young and the best players ever.

What happened to Kenneth Faried? Is he just on a team that doesn't need his skill set anymore? Despite a cut in playing time, he's still close to his numbers/per 36min.

The current obsession with statistics leads to nonsense.

Sure but the Lakers are 16-7 in their last 23 games which is 3rd in the NBA, so that has to mean something.

I mean, yeah, obviously. No one is suggesting those five are equal. That's kind of the whole point.

Would you have guessed that if you cherry picked any set of major stats you would hit a level that gave you Magic, Bird, Jordan, Lebron... and Thaddeus Young? Because I would not. I would think you'd get to about 300 other players before Thaddeus Young.

I can see it both ways. Impressive to be able to associate one random guy with the greats, but you open yourself up to ridicule when you need such obscure numbers to do it. Reminds me of how my late Dad and I would bat around trivia, and something like "name the four guys who averaged 15 ppg and 10 rpg in their first 800 games" would be fair game, but "name the four guys who averaged 13.5 ppg, shot 49 percent, had 1.4 steals, etc., etc.," would be a trivia foul. Round numbers, please!

It’s because, if they upped it to 1.5 steals and 50 percent, they wouldn’t get the desired results.

Immortalized in the 1987 title video Drive for Five. And in that video it shows him few games later getting a steal and dribbling down for a dunk, also against the beleaguered Suns. Chick says something like, with Magic out with an injury, he's the new point guard, a 3-point specialist, a dribble-drive artist.
