    JRC alert. From jjobs.com:

    Position:
    Entry-level sports copy editor/paginator
    Location:
    Troy, New York
    Job Status: Full-time
    Salary: $20,000 to $25,000
    Ad Expires:
    October 9, 2007
    Job ID: 823991

    Description:

The Record's sports staff has a full-time opening for a copy editor/paginator. Here's a chance for a talented recent college graduate to start his/her career in journalism.

The position requires strong editing and grammar skills and a flair for design. Knowledge of Quark and Photoshop a plus, but we will train. The position, which is not a writing job, involves nights and weekends.

The Record sports staff covers two Division I basketball teams, two Division I hockey programs, an AHL affiliate, a NY-Penn League affiliate, 40 high schools, seven colleges and thoroughbred and harness racing.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume and clips to Kevin Moran, sports editor, The Record, 501 Broadway, Troy, N.Y. 12180 or email them to kmoran@troyrecord.com

Dear God, it's set up so perfectly that I can't even take a swing at it.

The rest of the JRC bunch can chip in at this point, I'm sure it's a fail situation. Here's hoping for "BYH rewrite of job ad" responses instead of "yay cancer!" responses.

Just wanted to make sure this point is reinforced. JRC or not, getting this locked for idiotic reasons is never good.

Yes, it is JRC. The pay stinks. I know people who held this position in the past, held on for 18 months to two years. They eventually landed at ESPN.com, Miami Herald, Syracuse and with the Hearst paper in Albany.

They converted to tab to several years ago. You will need to be able to put out 6-7 pages per shift. Sports editor is somewhat flexible when you need time off or vacation. They've done some quality work in the past, despite JRC.

For a young kid, here's a chance. If you have experience or a family, look elsewhere.

As a young kid, here is my question... Isn't 20-25k on the cheap side for someone who will have to put out 6-7 pages a night?
Especially with so many teams and schools being covered.. it sounds like the coverage area is large.

    Any comments?

Get you to the search button and punch in JRC. You'll find out why the pay is low and much, much more.
