Actually, many chains are now handling people in ways pioneered by the newspaper wing of the Alabama teachers' retirement system.

Was offered a job there many, many, many moons ago but didn't take it. Seemed like a nice little small town, if a little off the beaten path. Thomasville and Thomas County is a good rivalry, from what I was told, and I know the town has produced plenty of championship-caliber teams and top talent. Might not be a bad place to start out.

After the interview (for God's sake not before), chili dogs from the Billiard Academy are a must.

Don't know if they still print the paper in Valdosta, but that led to some crazy-early deadlines for the TTE back in the day. And heaven help you if crazy ole Jane Whatshername is still the publisher. UPDATE: Jane Benton. Thanks Google.

Still, a cool town that practically serves as a Tallahassee suburb. Just know that it is a long, long haul to Atlanta.

  5. Jane's not the publisher, and Thomasville has its own press now.
