The position has been filled. John McKelvey, who most recently wrote for the Arizona Republic, has been hired.

Late in responding but I'll give you some quick info.

The sports editor position was vacated, to which John McKelvey was promoted, and this is for the sports writer position that opened with his promotion.

I can share a few details: You will likely focus on the smaller communities that surround Duncan, and there are some quality teams. Marlow has some good programs and the residents are very passionate about most sports. Velma-Alma has some good programs as well, ditto for Empire. During the summer, there are a lot of golf tournaments that take place in the area, so there's plenty to cover then.

If anyone has other questions, you can PM me.
