Let's get to the important part: Cullman finally has liquor by the drink.

Decently cool town for its size. Still trying to live down its past as a sundown town, but did elect a black state representative last time out, so attitudes are changing. The paper itself is CNHI, but does good work considering that and the market size. People can and do move on to bigger things from here.

Some people on this board opt to reveal their real-world identities or places of work in one spot, but that doesn't then make it acceptable for others to refer to them by their real-world names or in connection with their real-world jobs in other places. At least one user in this thread outed himself years ago and never makes any attempt to cover up his identity, but you still shouldn't use his real name. Similarly, the poster in question was excited to get a job and wanted to tell the board at the time. That does not mean he wants his identity revealed in every thread about that shop or in any other thread at any other time.

This board has tons of lurkers, some holding great influence in this industry. Hypothetically, the user you basically outed could be up for another job right now. He may not want that prospective employer to know about his posting history. It's a matter of discretion.

meanwhile, back to the topic at hand.

Cullman is a not a bad starting point. You can live on what they'll pay, you'll get freedom to write and you'll even get to cover some college football. It's not a destination job, but there are worse places to spend a year or two. Bham is 45 minutes away and you can now get a beer in town.

I was waiting for Moddy to say he was sick and damn tired of losing to fucking Purdue and having an 8-10 record. He just wants to make someone run until they can't even suffer.

There has to a Knight joke in here somewhere. :)

Alabama is a fucked up state when it comes to that. The property tax is artificially low, and the people are reamed on sales tax. State's cut is four percent, but every county and municipality adds on to make up for the negligible property tax. Sales tax is closer to 10 percent because the legislature doesn't care about spreading the damage.
Cullman is an interesting town; very provincial. It will be interesting to see who they hire.

One of the few states where you aren't required to have car insurance.

So if you own property in Bama and shop and work in Tennessee, you've got the best of both worlds.

Tennessee has plenty high sales tax. And from experience, Alabama taxes your income as a resident, even if you work in a state (in my case Florida) with no income tax.
