The Mason County Journal, a healthy four section weekly newspaper, seeks an all around journalist with reporting, photographing and pagination skills. The primary beat is sports reporting and photography for two school districts, club sports and outdoors, with some general news reporting. Some pagination is required. Shelton is located on Puget Sound with the Olympic National Forest and Park serving as a giant wilderness playground minutes away for residents. The area offers hunting, fishing, kayaking, surfing, skiing, hiking and climbing. Shelton is hour from Seattle, two hours from Portland and the Pacific Coast is just 45 minuets away. We require a journalism degree, or equivalent, and would like to see candidates with one year of weekly community journalism experience or more, but would consider recent grads with the right talents. Northwest applicants a plus.

Please send a cover letter, resume, and examples of reporting and photo work to editor Greg Skinner at greg@masoncounty.com
