Beacon Media, publishers of three weekly newspapers in North Fulton County, is looking for a young, energetic sportswriter to cover local high school sports. We are looking for the following qualifications in our applicants:

    - A solid foundational knowledge and vocabulary for a wide variety of sports

    - Willingness to work nights and weekends to cover sporting events

    - Personable demeanor conducive to building a professional rapport with local coaches and players

    - One year (or more) of experience working as a journalist OR a bachelor's degree in journalism or another related field, regardless of experience, and a willingness and ability to develop journalistic skills.

This is not a 9 to 5 job, so hours are flexible and the work week will be built around your event-coverage schedule.

The Beacon is an expanding group of newspapers with a current circulation of approximately 65,000. So visibility is high, and the possibility for career growth within the company is strong. This is a great way to get your journalistic career jump-started in a major suburb of Atlanta while working in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

If this sounds like your job, please contact Tim Altork at taltork@beaconcast.com. Please include a copy of your resume and a note or cover letter explaining your interest and qualifications for the position.

    Other Roswell :D

Although, is there a sportswriter currently who has worked at both Roswells? *That* would be a cool story.

    How are the heartbreakers?
