This one sounds like a great gig.

The Mobile Press-Register, an APSE Top 10 sports section, has an immediate opening for a multi-talented person who can excel as both a general assignment sports writer and page designer.

The successful candidate will cover every level of sports and will likely be the paper's lead golf writer. The Press-Register is a 99,000-circulation Newhouse newspaper located on Alabama's Gulf Coast.

don't try to beat kennedy at poker. he's much better than slappy and i expect one day to see him at the WSOP.
he'll lose there, but he can afford it off what he's made fleecing media members around alabama.

    Yes.

Gareth Clary, the former golf writer/columnist, is now editor-in-chief of The Mississippi Press (the Newhouse paper in Pascagoula).

Herndon moved from prep beat to columnist.

Josh Bean moved from one of the bureaus to prep beat.

I worked in Mobile. While Kennedy is a good guy and the sports staff is top-notch, the management above him is awful. The executive editor is a complete moron. A lot of good reporters have come and gone from Mobile, but don't plan on staying too long unless you have a high tolerance for managerial b.s.

Mr. Kennedy is an awesome individual. Don't need to go any further than that.
