Southwest Virginia daily newspaper has immediate openings for news editor, reporter and sports writer to help take this five-day community daily to the next level. Positions are demanding but rewarding. Must be organized, have a passion for detail, be a team player and understand a sense of accomplishment. Must be able to think outside the box. Must enjoy community journalism. Creativity a plus, along with a desire for enterprise writing. Know Quark, Photoshop and AP style. News editor responsible for helping conduct daily budget meetings, keeping track of assignments and some writing. Pagination is required. Reporter will enjoy variety of assignments, including cops, city and county government. Some feature writing required. Sports writer will welcome a spot in this sports-minded area. Pagination also required for sports writer. All three positions require flexible schedules. Only the serious need apply.
