Wow! The Golden Spike, the Blue Moon Cafe -- does that take me back a few years! One community pillar you left out: the radio station known as "the X, the Tri-State's real rocker." I believe they're still on the air and as independent (non-corporate) as ever.

Yes, I spent a fun-filled year at "NEMO" in Kirksville. Lots of bad beer and euchre tournaments, but also some good times and a few local dives that had cheap eats for light-on-cash college kids. Long live the Golden Spike burger baskets.

I hope all is well at the now-named Truman State.

Don't forget the Flamingo Lounge, where happy hour was 7-9 a.m. for all can beer for 50 cents. Kirksville wasn't much, but for a small college town, I sure have a lot of decent (although fuzzy) memories.
