If it's not in BFE, it's close.

The paper covers a roughly three-county area, about seven high schools, but really it's Worland HS that gets the bulk of the attention. There is not much else going on there sports-wise. No local jucos, no defining sports communities (runners, bicyclers, etc.), no chance to cover anything with the University of Wyoming.

The paper has some solid writing and coverage of the area. But, it's not very strong photographically, the layout is stuck in 1997 and there is a weak web presence. That said, you have free reign over all of that and the opportunity is there to make it special.

The NWDN is owned by the same company that owns the papers in Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins and Rock Springs, and a couple other small ones that I'm forgetting. Small local chain.

Worland the town is BFE. About 2 1/2 hours to Billings; about 6 1/2 hours to SLC; about 7 hours to Denver. And still two hours from Yellowstone. As the ad says, you gotta like the small-town life to make it in Worland.

About halfway between Yellowstone and Devil's Tower. While Worland isn't the prettiest place in the world, lots of great scenery nearby.

That's what Twitter does to me ... Makes me careless when posting quick things online.
