Yes they are.

 

I spend a decent amount of time near Denton. It really is a decent area, and if you care to live 10 minutes outside of town, you can probably find a decent apartment for $300-$400 a month. There are some really cheap places to live.

 

$300-$400 a month? the only place you could get that when i was doing grad school was really run-down houses or apartments in cement city.

 

If you're outside the 288 or on the other side of I-35, it's actually pretty accurate.
I'm not talking penthouse, just livable places where you don't have to worry about getting shanked.

 

And there ain't that many places you gotta worry about getting shanked in Denton.

 

You might get hit in the head with a basketball if you live in Krum or Ponder, though.
