Southern Maryland Today, located in California, Md., is seeking a Sports Reporter with a flair for words who can go beyond the play-by-play retelling of a game.

Our offices are located in the heart of Southern Maryland with easy access to Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Annapolis. We cover an extremely diverse region that includes major military bases, Washington suburbs, historical sites, rolling farm land and the Chesapeake Bay.

The ideal candidate should have a degree in journalism from an accredited college, strong knowledge of AP Style, strong work ethic, the ability to work well under deadline pressure and the ability to cover a wide range of sports that includes football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, field hockey, wrestling and swimming (to name a few). This position also provides content for our website.

Southern Maryland Today plans a hard launch of its print and online product in the near future, so time is of the essence. Deadline for submitting resumes and portfolios is Friday, Feb. 4. Preference will be given to candidates who live in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.

Any idea of a salary range for this position cosidering living expenses in Maryland are through the roof?
