SPORTS WRITER - The Auburn Journal, a daily newspaper in the scenic foothills of the Sierra Nevada, is seeking a versatile , full-time sports writer to join its award-winning staff. We pride ourselves on intensely local coverage of the thriving prep sports in the area. Auburn is the Endurance Capital of the World and home of the Western States Endurance Run, Tevis Cup Ride and many other high-profile endurance and outdoors events. The area is also a Mecca for cyclists, mountain bikers, hikers, skiers, snowboarders and many other outdoor activities.
We are looking for a dynamic writer who can make the personality and flavor of Auburn's sports scene come to life in print and online. The right candidate will be able to do a little bit of everything: cover events on deadline, write feature stories, assist with editing responsibilities and be an all-around team player. Must be available to work nights and some weekends. Pagination experience and knowledge of Quark is preferred. Daily newspaper experience is preferred, but recent college graduates are welcome to apply.
The Auburn Journal offers a competitive salary and benefits package that offers medical, dental, vision, profit-sharing and paid vacation. Equal opportunity employer.
Please send a resume and three writing samples to Erin Mezzetti, human resources manager, at emezzetti@goldcountrymedia.com.
