    That is gospel truth, sir.

Once you're out there, it seems you're either out in a year or there for life.

    Yes, you are hired.

But you're on your own as far as getting there.

Think of it this way, all that AP copy you're taking off the wire is in your queue at 4 p.m. in Hawaii.

I bet their desk shifts finish pretty early when there's no local going on.

And add me to the list of people who love Maui. Perhaps the most beautiful place in the United States?

Can anyone tell me if these positions have been filled?

If no can, no can. If can, Brad Sherman.

As for NASCAR coverage in Maui, when I was there in April '06, the back page of the Sports section was an ad that covered about 75% of the page. The rest of it was the NASCAR gamer from Phoenix, with quotes, with agate and a color photo from victory lane. (Meanwhile, back home in N.C., we were probably lucky to get a 6-inch quickie lead in the final.)

I sat there thinking, "Man, could working the desk in Maui be any easier? Every sport in America, except for UH football, is over by the time you get in the office!" I mean, most folks over there are even out of bed by NFL kickoff time.

    Is Rob Collias still there?

If not, I'll be meeting his replacement in a month at Ka'anapali. ;D

I will be there — I took the copy editor position. Moving from the Big Isle to the Valley Isle.
