Closer to 28,000. Can be a good springboard. Just look at where the guys who have left recently have ended up.

So does Boots actually work? I've heard of people getting addicted to online porn. It seems like Boots is addicted to SportsJournalists.com. Not sure which is sadder. The Albany Herald is a good place to work, and people do go from there to bigger places. The editors and publisher leave the sports guys alone to run things as they see fit, and that makes for a nice work environment. Regardless of the objections of some folks on this board (see Boots), it's an excellent job.

What the fuck is your problem ECK? You no longer work there, right? I didn't say anything about the place bad, right? You got an issue with me, put in on the PM. Leave it off the board. I haven't made a comment about this place in days. I wish you happy holidays. boots

I applied for the job today. I'm kinda getting a little frustrated about the whole journalism business. Maybe it's just the whole "trying to break in" thing. Anyway, I'm working hard right now keeping the blog up and doing some freelance so I won't get rusty.

Sorry for the emotional rant, but yes, I want this sports writer position bad.

UPDATE: Word is they are close to hiring an SE here and have quite a few solid candidates for the writing position, but are still accepting resumes for that job.

Not to take a shot at you Floyd but that's an old story with the same line. Wake me when they really make a move.

Jesus Christ you are an ass, Boots. What the hell is your problem? Is it possible for you to keep your mouth shut about anything?

For anyone who actually cares about this job and not the idiotic ramblings of a total douchebag, they made an offer to an SE who has yet to formally accept the position. They are still accepting resumes for the job. This comes first-hand from someone currently on the sports staff there. The only reason I posted anything at all was to inform any writers who might be interested on what was going on.

Welcome to the jobs board, Floyd, where every opening gets a thourough prostate exam by any one of a handful of board cynics.

I come here from time to time, because really, it cheers me up. Because I'm lucky enough to not be some fresh-from-college kid who can't afford to care how good the gig really is. And it really is luck, since I have about as much raw talent as a dung gnat.

But maybe, if I can get REALLY good, I, too, can poke fun at some of these openings and let the coolness wash over me.

No I'm not an ass. I'm the ultimate ass. As for keeping my mouth shut, we only spoke the truth and the truth shall set you free. And at last check, this is the United States of Amerikkka, and we are big on freedom here.

That's good to hear. The news clearly didn't reach the boots pipeline.
