    Hey SJ, need your help...

Going to be getting a dog soon and I want to make sure it doesn't have a dumb name. Trying to get a sports themed name that will fly over my girlfriends' head. She's a Michigan State fan and has already said no to Denard and Brady and Woodson. Still have her considering Desmond but if she catches on, I may have to move to plan B.

So does anyone have any good sports themed names for dogs, aside from the Cleveland Show names (Meadowbark Lemon, Kareem Abdul Jabark)?

We got our dog right after the Bruins won the Cup, so his name is Stanley.

One of my dogs came with a sports themed name. His breeder was a NC basketball fan so his AKC registered name is "Player of the Year" and his everyday name is Tyler.

Gotta go with someone dead or retired, so when the honored athlete gets thrown in jail for some heinous scandal, you're not embarrassed for your dog.

Ella is named after, well, herself. Get the dog and a name will hit you. We discussed a thousand names and I even came here for help. Once we had her a short time, we could tell easily she was an Ella.

Millen. He's a well-known dog in the state of Michigan.

    I laughed hard.

If I ever lost my mind and decided to get a dog, I'd probably name it Mason.

A dog would do you some good.

And that's not a knock on you. A dog would do anyone some good.
