Sports take triple cut at Cox Media combined desk

Heart goes out to those who got "pulled aside" tonight.
They can name themselves if they wish. I won't.
Three of the six cuts on the first floor in West Palm Beach came from the sports department.
The other three layoffs/early retirements are on news side.
The sports department did not expect this big a hit.
Of course, those sports guys still remaining (I think it's about a dozen full and part-timers) will still be expected to do the same job designing and editing four newspapers (Dayton, West Palm Beach, Austin and Atlanta) with fewer man hours. Online editions, too.

My take?
If you are in the biz and get a chance to get out and find yourself a Monday-Friday job, with nights, weekends and holidays off, do it.
It's life-changing.
Your friends and family will thank you.
