    Taking off on the other thread, here is my vote:

    Legend: The Larry Bird Story
    White kid from Indiana walks away from Bob Knight and IU and takes job as garbage man. Then after his father commits suicide, enrolls at lowly Indiana State and goes on to become one of the greatest basketball players ever.

    It would be tough to find a guy with that kind of mug - and he had a mug, not a face - but a Yogi Berra movie would be interesting.

    The basketball manager who came off the bench to score 20 in the last quarter, especially if that actor from Napoleon Dynamite played the lead.

    Beamon's long jump, but only with explicit pre-jump sex scenes.

    From a mediocre high school soccer player to a decent sports writer, Drock didn't have to overcome much of anything to reach the middle. But reach the middle he did.
