Funny story. Back when I worked at a different paper in a different town, a guy who owned a bar that I hung out always wore a Ron Powlus jersey. A buddy of mine would laugh about it and we always called him Ron Powlus.

Fast forward a year later, and I work at a prep sports publication, and one the things we offer is a recruiting service to major colleges. Notre Dame is one of the teams on it. So I'm sitting at the office and the phone rings, and the guy says, "Hey SCEditor, this is Ron Powlus from Notre Dame." I almost -- ALMOST -- said, "Yeah, you know you're the third second-rate quarterback to call me today," thinking it was my buddy playing a trick on me. Good thing, because it really was Powlus, calling to renew their recruiting service package with us.

He's a grad assistant up there or something.
