Another opening in Williamsburg. From JJobs.

Williamsburg Yorktown Daily, an online-only local news daily powered by our two radio stations 92.3FM The Tide and 107.9 BACHfm, is looking for a sports reporter to take over an established beat in Virginia's Historic Triangle.

WYDaily.com launched in July 2008 and operates as part of Local Voice LLC with offices in Williamsburg, VA. At WYDaily, our sports reporter will research and write stories about the area's prep sports athletes and their sports. All our WYDaily reporters are 21st-century multimedia reporters, posting their stories, photos and brief videos to the website, promoting them through radio segments, and interacting with readers through social media. Our sports reporter must be flexible, able to collaborate and to multitask. Our sports reporter must feel at home writing a feature, gamer or news story that requires research and an understanding of municipal budgets. Reporters must also have strong writing skills, ability to self-edit and familiarity with AP Style. Some night and weekend reporting is necessary, and WYDaily values community involvement.

    Desired Characteristics:

Curious and interested in how things connect and what makes people tick.

Community-minded; live in or near coverage area.

Professional, but personable; able to cultivate and maintain contacts.

Proven ability to multitask, prioritize and work on deadline.

    Previous newsroom experience.

Willing to work a flexible schedule that changes from day to day.

Our company has a unique and well-defined approach to business. We are looking for staff members with a willingness to learn “our way.”

If interested, please send an email to jobs@wydaily.com with the following: a brief note of introduction along with a resume and up to three recent samples of stories you have written that best represent your abilities as a reporter.
