Local Voice Media is hiring a full-time sports reporter to work with a staff of four at Southside Daily, an online daily news site powered by its hometown radio station, 102.1 - The Tide, in Virginia Beach, an Oceanfront resort town and Virginia's most populous city, with 11 public high schools.

We want someone with experience writing sharp, accurate game stories and compelling features, and who is comfortable and adept at interacting with and sourcing high school and college athletic directors, coaches, players and community members. The reporter must be able to shoot quality photos and video and cultivate a readership on social media through all its forms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The successful candidate will have a college degree and a minimum of two years of sports coverage experience. Strong reporting and writing skills are necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop one to two feature stories per week
• Posts multiple updates throughout the week on club/youth league results, local sports developments and weekly roundups of the top teams in Virginia Beach
• Cultivates sources among coaches, athletic directors, club/league organizers and players; maintains a growing database of contacts; and stays up to date with area's sports results and eventsWrites radio teases for each story for morning and afternoon radio newscasts
