Job opportunity at Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK - Sports Reporter

The Record Searchlight seeks a full-time sports reporter to cover high school and collegiate athletics in California's beautiful North State. The successful candidate will have sports reporting experience (collegiate and nontraditional media qualify) and be motivated to explore the beat outside the games.

Coverage will emphasize great storytelling and analysis around athletes, teams, coaches and sports that are traditionally ignored by newspaper sports pages.

    The job requires:

    • Attending games and practices, but "gamers" will be few and far between.

    • Experience in using social media for both reporting and building audience.

    • Ability to shoot and edit video and photos.

    • Strong organizational and motivational skills and the ability to take initiative and plan ahead.

This position offers flexibility and autonomy, and a chance to help define how local sports can best meet the needs of a broad digital audience.

In upper Northern California, a couple of hours north of Sacramento. Heavy preps and there's a juco.

How come these Gannett jobs don't let you add a cover letter or clips?

Think you have to combine CV and cover letter into one document and attach that.
I always suspect Gannett is testing us to see if we're clever enough to figure that out.

First time I've seen "clever" and "Gannett" used in the same sentence in a while.
